Jive Talkin' Robots

Now hear this, now hear this...the Robots are back on the west coast again! After touring the entire USA and the east coast in particular, they have finally come home to roost(1/2000). With both hands clapping, I say, "Buy the CD. Go see the band. Drink beer with them after the show".

I have seen a ton of performances of the Robots, never to be let down. That is a true gift when you hear the same songs a few times, as often they grow old real fast these days. This five piece plays jazz and funk with a tiny amount of (gasp!) country thrown in. All the players are truly fine cats in what they do, and they love to get funky! What separates them from other funk bands is the musical changes that they do; they bust out a mega groovin jazz tune and throw down your super fat Victor Wooten bass-in-your-booty-changes. Sorry, that was a terrible description. Lets just say that "tasty" is a good word for what goes on in between the musical phrases they do. Also, the CD is really good, and sports one of my favorite Robot tunes, "Friends". This is a song about staying out of trouble with another mans girl, I think. Check it out, it's a good CD to get.

Hey-the Robots are no longer together. If you get a chance to see any group with the likes of Tom Nunes, Jeff Baxter, Gabe Johnson, Joe Henderson, or Andy Love, do it. They will be good.
