MODEST MOUSE
The Mouse has returned! The show on January 15th at the Crystal Ballroom was a return to the high energy power packed band that captured the hearts of college radio fans nationwide. The mice are fronted by guitarist Isaac Brock, who started the show with a fast paced version of Trucker's Atlas and mixed things up all night long. The beauty of the band lies in their ability to move seamlessly from a plaintive bluesy sound to an all out energy explosion as Brock screams lyrics into the pick-ups of his guitar. The key to this is the incredibly solid rhythm section composed of bassist Eric Judy, and drummer Jeremiah Green also of Red Stars Theory.
Their newly released b-sides and rarities album Building Nothing Out of Something is stellar and includes several tracks previously available only on the sub pop singles club. Their next album with new label Epic is due out in June accompanied by another national tour. Until then the band has two full length albums and an ep available from updirect.com all of which I highly recommend, especially the breakthrough album; This is a Long Drive For Someone With Nothing To Think About.
