Phat Sidy Smokehouse

Ok. Here we go again, kids. It is my turn to bless this page with info on a band I have seen recently that really kicks butt. This one is no stranger to the northwest, by any means, but they still impress with their high energy shows. I have yet to see the band with their real drummer; this is quite amazing, however...the guy that sits in to fill his spot is the SINGER(Ernest Pumphrey)! No kiddin'! This is not a chump on the drums, either...he has great chops, precise fills, and grooves real hard. All of the band members are exceptional in their abilities. The member I am always draw to watching is the sax player, Jon Ryser. This guy has swerve gallore, baby. He dances so much he barely has time to play the damn horn! His accomplice in this is the mighty bass player-I thought Spike Lee was on stage at first, but hell, Spike ain't that groovy! I guess the best part of all is that they play great tunes to rock out to, and tunes to dance to. They play the crowd well and have fun while doing it. Phat Sidy has a few recordings out, with the newest release being Subrabae; a mix of Isaac Hayes, Curtis Mayfield, and some hard funk guitar courtesy of Brian Ray. You can get a special non-production copy of selected songs from three albums at freedomzone.com, so check that out too.

If you wanna dance a bit and get crazy, this is an excellent choice for the evening.
